and made quite a spirited speech to us as the first anniversary after the bloody battle of Shiloh; and further predicted that his old Brig. (11th and 24 Ind. Regt's) would soon be engaged in another such bloody battle, and that he would not be afraid to "storm Hell" with his Div. The soldiers at this post are generally in good health, and they are not demoralized as they once really were. The cause for the Union looks brighter than it has at any period within 6 months Decisive actions will soon be fought. The minds of the people have gradually been bent to the will of the President, as regards the negro question in different respects. Things are working with wonderful rapidity to shape out the future to admit the Negro to full fellowship with the white man.
